PE Early Exam Application
PE EARLY EXAM OPTION IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR APPLICANTS WHO DO NOT HAVE EXPERIENCE TO QUALIFY FOR LICENSING
(PE Exam Only application fee is $100. After passing the exam, $100 balance is due for the PE Exam/License application.)
The early exam option does not apply to the Structural examinations, or to any applicant who has the required education and experience to qualify for a Nevada PE license. Your early exam application will be denied if we determine you meet the requirements to apply for a PE license. (NRS 625.183.4)
This application is offered only for qualified applicants who want to complete the exam prior to obtaining the required engineering experience for Nevada’s Professional Engineer license. If you complete the PE exam before you have the required experience, you will be required to submit updates to your PE Exam/License application which is then presented to the Board for review and approval.
Be aware if you complete the exam early you will qualify for licensing in Nevada, but some states may require more time between the exams and may not accept your exam for licensing in their state. If you are planning for professional licensing in other states, you should check their requirements before taking the exam early so you won’t be required to retake the exam.

You must be approved by the Nevada Board to sit for the exam before you register with NCEES. If you register with NCEES before being approved by Nevada, you may lose your fees paid to NCEES and your exam may be cancelled.
Nevada application fee is $100. If you are applying for the Geological Engineering PE exam, the application fee due is $350.
To qualify for the PE Early Exam, you must have passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering exam, have an ABET accredited BS engineering degree (or equivalent), and do not have the required engineering experience to get license. If you have the qualifying years of experience to get license, you must complete the PE Exam/License application.
